Hybrid technology breaks the
connection between great fuel economy and
stripped-down econobox in the
1970s. Thanks to
hybrids and
plug-in models roll out in the next year or two, car
buyers with deep pockets will no
longer need to
compromise on ride
quality or luxury features to save
fuel and
protect the planet.
On the other hand, for hybrid and electric cars makers habit of marking major engines and raw speed when thinking of luxury buyers. We have yet to see a hybrid or clean diesel cars with large luxury features, but with a right-sized four-cylinder engine that could send fuel economy of 40-mpg range. If it comes out, we will add it to our luxury hybrid list.
